General Questions
What is technical writing/information design?
Technical writing is a term used to encompass all forms of professional nonfiction communication. Technical writers collaborate with a team, learn from Subject-Matter Experts, and work with clients to design, write, and/or edit print and web documents that are reader- and user-focused. They adhere to principles of good design and strive to craft content that is clear, concise, honest, accurate, comprehensive, accessible, professional-looking, and correct. Technical writers are chameleons who can work in and contribute to nearly every industry. Technical writing encompasses writing copy, editing and proofreading, designing a document or website, designing data displays, using informative graphics, creating UI and UX, consulting, making complex subjects more accessible to lay audiences, marketing, and much more.
Will you write an essay or create a presentation for me for a class?
No. Per the guidelines and policies regarding academic integrity and cheating, I will not accept jobs that will be turned in for a course. I can, however, provide tutoring and consulting services for all stages of the writing process.
Do you offer discounts?

Can I get a quote before I order?
Absolutely. I encourage you to reach out for a free quote. You can input your project's details and receive a quote within 24 hours.

How long will it take to get my job/project back?
Check your contract. My turnaround time is typically 3-4 days, but longer and more complex projects will take more time. If you paid the rush fee, you can expect your piece back sooner.

What do I do if I need to change something about my order?
You can use the Contact Me form, or you may contact me directly at meluso2213@gmail.com. Please note, once a project has been completed and outstanding balances paid, further changes may incur additional fees.

How do I get the watermark off my deliverable?
By paying the remaining balance owed.

Why did I need to sign a contract?
This document protects both of us in case of a dispute. It helps me know exactly what you want your document to include and your expectations for the project. It also lets you know of my policies, expectations, and pricing breakdown.
Pricing Questions
Why is your service so expensive?
My prices are based on the current market rate for freelance technical writers in my area. My qualifications make my services valuable. However, I strive to offer the most affordable rate possible. Other professional services charge per word, and most Resume and CV services start at $300. My hourly rate takes into account the time a project will take to complete, the materials and software required to complete them, and my education to master these skills.

Do you offer refunds?
Typically no, though there are exceptions. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis for legitimate claims. Contact me for more information. Please include your job number in the email.

Why do I need to put down a deposit?
When people cancel in the middle of a project, that time could have been spent working on another client's project. The deposit shows me a commitment to the project and ensures that, if you cancel the order, I will not be out for my time and supplies.

Are deposits refundable?
Deposits are non-refundable.

Can I get a job completed for free if I credit you on the website/pamphlet/etc.?
I unfortunately do not provide free labor.
